It then found success in other European countries, reaching the top spot on many charts in September the same year, including Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Sweden, Norway and many other countries. The song initially found success in France, where it debuted in August 1999 and reached number one for three weeks. The single, released in October 1998, was a chart-topper in many European countries. Rolling Stone, however, in their review of Europop, gave the song a negative review, commenting that the song "blends Cher-esque vocoder vocals, trance-like synth riffs, unabashed Eurodisco beats and a baby-babble chorus so infantile it makes the Teletubbies sound like Shakespeare." The magazine also placed the song on their list of the "20 Most Annoying Songs," at No. Promis described the song as a "hypnotic smash" in his review of Europop. PopMatters reviewer Chris Massey, in his review of Europop, described his initial reaction to the song as being "really, really bad." However, he later stated in the review that after many repeated listenings of the song he "loved it." AllMusic editor Jose F. He also noted that "the key is the use of the voice synthesizer". The Daily Vault's Christopher Thelen described it as a "quirky little hit" with a "bouncy chorus". Daily Record said it is the "strangest-sounding Euro-club hit of the summer". Larry Flick from Billboard wrote that "the hook here, with its dancy but curiously compelling singsongy rhythm and lyric, is destined to react instantly with listeners far and wide." He also noted that it has a "euro sound", and "it's creative, it will affect listeners on both ends of the demographic spectrum, and it's anthemic." Entertainment Weekly positively reviewed the song, calling the song "a fleeting, feel-good foot-tapper" and gave the song a rating of B. The song received mixed reviews from critics. The song's hook is the sentence "I'm blue," followed by a repetition of the sounds "da ba dee da ba die", which the hook is based around. The song's lyrics tell a story about a man who lives in a "blue world." It also explains that he is "blue inside and outside," which, alongside the lyric "himself and everybody around 'cause he ain't got nobody to listen," and "blue are the feelings that live inside me" may indicate that the term blue represents his emotional state however, the song also explains that a vast variety of what he owns is also blue, including his house and his car ("a blue Corvette"): different blue-coloured objects are also depicted on the single's cover. "Blue (Da Ba Dee)" is written in the key of G minor, with the vocal range spanning from C 3 to E ♭ 4, and is set in common time with a moderate tempo of 128 beats per minute. While most users believed the Counter-Strike Global Offensive wouldn’t do well, it quickly gained a massive following. In addition to this, all the players you play with and against are real people vs AIs. Prior to Spider-Man, Insomniac made an Xbox One game called Sunset Overdrive, in which Lowenthal played the male main character. The actor says the audition started before the idea for the game even gestated – before he or Insomniac even knew they were making a Spider-Man game. His most prestigious role is as Peter Parker in Marvel’s Spider-Man and Miles Morales for PS4/PS5, which required him to strap on a skin-tight mocap suit and pretend it’s a cool superhero costume. Lowenthal’s voice work might be as prevalent as Amazon Alexa’s – his IMDb page is like scrolling through a PDF of War & Peace, filled with credits for cartoons, video games, TV, and anime – but he’s no stranger to performance capture either. I think brought something special and I hope it comes through.” “And then add a whole other cast of actors that I got to work with in the room like we were doing a play or shooting a movie. “We got to work together the entire time for recording as well as for the performance capture,” Lowenthal says. For the remake, he’s joined instead by Supinder Wraich, who is playing the role of Princess Farah. “I hope it wasn’t my fault,” Lowenthal jokes. Shortly after the first Sands of Time launched, Wasick left acting. I know it’s been tough in the post-production, but I’m really excited.” I can’t wait for people to finally get a chance to play it. I love the new director, we got to keep all of Jordan Mechner’s brilliant writing and then and then redo the game better. I honestly couldn’t say enough good about the experience. I got to rewind time and see if I could do it better. This time I got to literally step into the shoes again. “When we did the first The Sands of Time, I may have done three to five recording sessions for the whole game, and that was my contribution. “For them to want to do the remake 15 years later and to come to me and not some younger, hotter actor was truly an honor. “It was one of the greatest honors of my life to return to a role that I had loved so much and thought was in the rearview mirror for me,” Lowenthal explains. While being together in the same booth for the original game made Lowenthal’s and Wasick’s chemistry feel more natural, advances in technology will hopefully take that to the next level when the remake lands in 2022. For the upcoming Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake, Lowenthal had the opportunity to activate the dagger of time and cause a paradox by stepping both backward and forwards through time simultaneously. Using motion capture suits, all the actors get together with stunt performers, and they film scenes from start to finish, sometimes with ensemble casts. These days, performance capture is the preferred method used by most big video game studios. Back then, video game actors would generally deliver their lines in isolation, with the conversations spliced together after the fact. The Sands of Time was an anomaly because both he and his scene partner, Joanna Wasick (Farah), recorded their lines in the same booth, reacting to each other. When Lowenthal first stepped into the Prince’s shoes, the game industry was in a very different place. Whether wall-running, swinging across chasms, or fighting monsters, the Prince can undo his mistakes by activating the dagger, which rewinds time, transporting him back to safety. In 2003’s Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, players take control of an acrobatic royal who wields a dagger that can control the flow of time. Looking back now, he wouldn’t change a thing. It’s a voice that’s opened up doors for Lowenthal, allowing him to portray a wide range of characters that a middle-aged actor wouldn’t be able to play in traditional media. He might have hated it while growing up, but his voice is a gift. “I’m getting swole with your dad,” he tells them, bestowing me the gift of the official title: Coolest Father of the Year. This was after I made the innocent faux pas of asking Mr. I was about 7 years old when my father took myself and my two brothers into the skid road area of Seattle, to a pawn shop owned by a holocaust survivor, and we paid $16.00 for the Rifle, used. My "first" Rifle was a Remington Model 514 (same Rifle just clip fed) - I have it still and indeed it was capable of excellent accuracy. I have been dingin around on the internet and nothing much else has turned up on this so-called "Boys Rifle" model. WyoCoyoteHunter: I was admiring this Rifle again today and it came to me that one reason the Rifle looked so unique or distinctive is because the barrel is so short and the end of its tubular magazine is just 1 1/8" shorter than the barrel (in other words the end of the magazine comes out to within 1 1/8" of the muzzle). I would have bought all he had left at $7.50 or $8.00 but he did not go for that - oh well.īottom line is I don't think the costs involved in our love of shooting 22 rimfires are going to go down, any time soon! I paid $10.00 per box for the Eley 17 Mach2 and am NOT happy about that - the fellow selling it had 10 boxes to begin with and folks were buying it - so I finally relinquished and bought 2 boxes to add to my small stash of this stuff. Its tough to get a "deal" first thing at a gunshow. I bid on three different Ruger heavy barrel 22 pistols (2 Mark II's and 1 Mark III) but was successful on none of these. I bought several small items at the show including a large Freeland spotting scope base/stand for $3.00 (an absolute steal!), a Buck knife and two boxes of Eley 17 Mach2 ammo. on the opening morning of this two day gunshow. I actually saw some of these sales transpire.Īnd this was at 9:30 A.M. One other note of interest to rimfirers, from this gunshow, there was a gentleman from Salmon, Idaho that had already sold half a case of Remington "Golden Bullets" hollow-point 22's at $46.00 per 525 pack! I hope to shoot this little gem someday soon. The barrel date code for this clean little Rifle is "CXX" which would indicate an April 1951 manufacture. In fact the Blue Book lists Models 512-A, 512-P and 512-X but no plain 512 like the one in hand? What a neat Rifle - I looked for info on it in the latest "Blue Book Of Gun Values" and not much to be gleaned there. The length of pull on this Remington is 12 1/2" and the barrel length is just a tad under 21". It was in very nice shape and reasonably priced - my friend had NO idea the instant he were to put the Rifle back on the table I was going to buy it.Įven though the Rifle is here at my house today its NOT because I bought it - my friend did and I am holding it until his wifes "bridge party" later this week when it will be clandestinely relocated!Īnyway I had never seen this model or heard this description of a Remington rimfire as a Boys Rifle before - I have a pair of Winchester Model 67 "Boys Rifles" though, and have seen many of these over the years but not this Remington 512 "Boys Rifle"! The owner relayed how this particular model was also referred to (among Remington Collectors"?) as a "Boys Rifle". The barrel was marked "Model 512" & "The SportMaster"! He got his mitts on it first and looked it over - we first noticed that this tubular fed fimfire bolt action Rifle had a short length of pull and a somewhat short barrel compared to other Remington rimfires.
